HR Leaders have some strong shoulders! Moral compass, compliance, profit and productivity, effectiveness, engagement, retention…all of these are some fairly hefty burdens! As HR Leaders, we are charged to shoulder these burdens with pride, with determination and, often, with a smile. We rise to the challenge, but often, we ensure we stay reasonably comfortable, even when the situation demands we be bold. Bold HR Leadership is not always comfortable, but it is necessary to move our organizations and our teams from good to great. Heather will offer her ideas on where typical vulnerabilities or “comfort zones” may lie. She will present her ideas on how HR Leaders can and should look beyond the status quo, challenge the sacred cows, and execute small changes in behavior, actions and decisions to become confident, just and bold HR leaders.


Learning Objectives:
1) Understand and recognize the four primary purposes of our profession
2) Identify where they, or their programs, have become a bit too comfortable and perhaps not as effective as they could be as leaders
3) Identify what they could do differently, or what needs to be done well to enable a better outcome for the organization




Heather Kinzie has been an Organizational Performance Professional for over 20 years and is proud of it. Her career hasn’t been perfect but it’s been comprehensive. She’s worked in almost all disciplines of HR and OD, in public and private enterprise, and in both the profit and non-profit sectors. She’s been consulting for over fifteen years and offers numerous hours of pro-bono work for her favorite non-profits. Heather has served as a Board Member or active volunteer for a variety of organizations in her community, including her local SHRM Chapter where she served as a Board Member for eight years and volunteer for 15 years! Heather is a writer and public speaker covering topics such as leadership, workforce engagement and collaboration, strategic planning and organizational performance. Moreover, she is uber excited to be here in Ohio speaking to professionals who are committed and dedicated to their leadership success.
