Compensation and Benefits SIG

Stephanie Valdez, Co-Chair
Fran Wahrman, Co-Chair

The Compensation and Benefits SIG of HRACO is designed to provide opportunities to network and discuss issues specifically relating to compensation and benefits for Human Resource professionals.

This excellent resource tool helps you build your skills and learn what other Central Ohio companies are doing.  Your thoughts and ideas can be discussed in our round table discussion format or at our HRCI Credit workshops, which will help enhance your knowledge of specific areas.

Meetings are open to all HRACO members, as well as, any Compensation and Benefits Specialist in Central Ohio.  Many of the meetings are absolutely free to attend.

Regardless of your level of interest, we welcome you to join the Planning Committee, where your input influences the programming, or at the Participant level by attending meetings and workshops.

Employee Relations SIG

Sara Hutchins-Jodka, Chair

The Employee Relations SIG has been developed and designed to provide employee relations HR professionals with continued development of their knowledge, skills and abilities within the Employee Relation specialty.  The ER SIG is also designed to allow HR professionals to network and share best practices as it relates to employee relations.

The Employee Relations SIG provides informative speakers to discuss relevant employee relations issues.  The ER SIG events provide a forum for employee relations professionals to round table issues and learn of resources that can be accessed by the ER SIG members.

Influences the programming, or at the Participant level by attending meetings and workshops.

Employment Law and Compliance Best Practices SIG

Julie Young, Chair

HR laws and regulations continue to grow and change at the speed of light.  The *new* Employment Law and Compliance Best Practices Special Interest Group of HRACO is designed to help HR professionals keep up with the ever-changing world of HR laws and compliance issues.  Think education, best practices, latest trends, and shared ideas mixed with fun, food and resource-sharing.

The ELC SIG will provide learning opportunities with HRCI and SHRM credits that emphasize practical ways to keep your business, company or organization legally compliant and best practices savvy without the huge legal bill.  We will also focus on fun ways to leverage area resources that support the HR community.  Come join us!

Labor Relations SIG

Intended for HR personnel actively dealing with union issues or those who want to keep abreast of the latest developments in labor relations, this SIG brings to life leading labor lawyer Matt Austin’s “What’s Up @ The NLRB” articles that appear in the HRACO newsletter each month as well as additional important (or outlandish!) topics related to the NLRB and labor unions.

Unlike many SIGs that have a sponsored speaker each meeting, the format of the Labor Relations SIG is more “round table” and purposefully kept informal so attendees are comfortable asking questions and learning together.

Most meetings are pre-approved for strategic HRCI credit.

We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon at the Upper Arlington Library: 2800 Tremont Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43221

Training and Development SIG

Leslie Koch Torres, Co-Chair
Jane Magness, Co-Chair

The Training and Development SIG has been developed to provide members with a platform to network, share knowledge and gain continued education in the latest trends in T&D.

The T&D SIG will discuss and plan activities around topics such as:  Leadership Development, Change Management, Measuring & Evaluating Learning, Presentation & Facilitation Skills, eLearning, Career Development, Coaching, Instructional Design, and more.

We welcome all members, whether you are just getting your feet wet in T&D and are looking to gain knowledge or are a seasoned expert who likes to share their knowledge and skills.

Staffing Management SIG

Cassandra Binkley, Chair

If you are a corporate recruiter, third-party recruiter, or HR professional who focuses on staffing and recruiting then the Staffing Management SIG is the place to be!   This HRACO and SHRM affiliated group offers professional development and networking opportunities on a quarterly basis to discuss topics related to the talent acquisition and employment functions. Past SM SIG events have showcased local speakers from Central Ohio companies and universities covering topics such as Generational Differences in the Workplace, Proactive Approaches to Recruiting Talent, How to Deal with Difficult Hiring Managers, and Recruiting & Retention Best Practices.

This is a group of staffing professionals, FOR staffing professionals and your participation is welcome!

In-Transition SIG

Sharon DeLay, Chair

In-Transition is open to all Human Resource professionals seeking new job opportunities. The group’s mission is “To provide encouragement and fellowship to Human Resource professionals via informational and social networking events.” This is achieved through monthly meetings that include both social/professional networking and guest speakers providing job search strategies and professional information. Check the Calendar page of the website for the next event. Also check out the Resources page of the website for links helpful to your search.
