Donation Drives

HRACO will promote a donation drive quarterly to collect items for a local nonprofit. There were 7 pillars that the Association was surveyed about wanting to engage in. One pillar will be the focus each quarter and we will rotate in order of engagement by the members. The Board of Directors compiles a list of nonprofits in that category and then votes on the nonprofit to support for that quarter. Members are encouraged to submit nonprofits that they would like to see supported to the VP of Community Relations at Those nonprofits will be categorized into the 7 pillars and included in the vote for that quarter. The drives will focus on actual items that the nonprofits need that members can bring to the monthly meetings. These are also great ways to engage employees at your organizations and encourage them to also participate.

For the 2nd quarter of 2019, our focus is Food & Nutrition and we will be supporting the Neighborhood Services, Inc. Food Pantry. Neighborhood Services, Inc. aims to temper the ill effects of poverty by providing food and material assistance to persons in need in the Columbus community. They partner with Mid-Ohio Foodbank, local grocers and organizations to stock our pantry, and offer a 5-day supply of food on each visit according to family size. Neighborhood Services, Inc. improves the quality of life in the Columbus community by compassionately and respectfully serving our neighbors in need. NSI distributed 612,902 meals during 2018.  We provide 10 services in addition to our food pantry including a clothing room, a once monthly produce market, senior boxes, tax assistance and more!

HRACO will be collecting donations for Neighborhood Services, Inc. during our monthly meetings in April, May and June. Currently NSI is currently low on pasta (other than spaghetti), canned fruit, canned soup and cereal (hot or cold). Food items that do not require a lot of other ingredients to prepare serve the needs of the largest percentage of neighbors (for example, hamburger helper requires having ground beef, but canned soups are largely ready to eat!). They are always low on personal items such toothpaste, feminine hygiene, soap, shampoo, shaving cream, etc. as people don’t often think to donate these items to a food pantry.  A full list of needs can be found by visiting:

Please bring any donation items to one of our monthly meetings. If you need to coordinate pick up or want to discuss how you can get your organization involved in this, please contact Rachel Arnold, VP of Community Relations, at
